Get your business classification code and choose your LLC management structure to make your record label official!

NAICS Code Lookup

What is NAICS? The North American Industry Classification System is a code that defines your business type for government agencies, banks, and lenders. This 6-digit code determines credit limits, tax classifications, and investor evaluations.

Important: If you don't choose your own NAICS code, institutions will assign one for you - and it might not match what you put on taxes or banking forms!
Search NAICS Database Florida Business Registration (Sunbiz.org)

Common Record Label NAICS Codes:

512250 Record Production and Distribution (Most Popular)
512230 Music Publishing
458110 Clothing and Accessories Retailers (Merchandise)
455219 General Merchandise Retailers (Non-wearable Products)
711130 Musical Groups and Artists (Live Performances $1500+ per show)
516210 Media Streaming & Social Networks (Online Content)
Pro Tip: Start additional LLCs when you're making $20,000+ annually in each category!

LLC Management Structure

Choose how your LLC will be managed. This affects who can sign contracts, make decisions, and represent the business.

Manager-Managed LLC (Recommended)
Best for: Single-member LLCs or when you want one person handling all transactions.
You choose this if: You're the only owner OR you want to designate one person to handle all business operations, contracts, and decisions.
Member-Managed LLC
Best for: Multiple partners who all want equal say in decisions.
You choose this if: Multiple people own the LLC and you all want to sign contracts and make decisions together. (Warning: This can cause headaches with lenders and investors!)
Important: Even if your state doesn't require this selection during registration, you'll need it for ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and other music industry organizations!

Step 2 Complete!

You've selected your NAICS code and chosen your LLC structure. You're ready to move on to the next step in building your record label!
